• Glass conductivity cell stores heat
• A warm cell warms water moving through it
• A cold cell cools water moving through it
• This causes water in cell to be a different temperature
than thermometer measured a moment earlier
• All conductivity cells experience this
– SBE can correct for it, because of controlled flow
